Strep Throat

Yes, I have strep throat. I will be out of work for 2 days. I feel like shit. It's been awhile since I have had strep throat. I forgot about the excruciating pain it causes.

New Digital Camera

I am planning on buying a new digital camera before I go on Spring Break. I think I am going to get a Canon. What kind of digital camera do you have? Does it take quality pictures? I want something that takes great pictures but that does not weigh a ton!

No Child Left Behind: The Football Version

1. All teams must make the state playoffs, and all will win the championship. If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable.

2. All kids will be expected to have the same football skills at the same time and in the same conditions. No exceptions will be made for interest in football, a desire to perform athletically, or genetic abilities or disabilities. ALL KIDS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT A PROFICIENT LEVEL.

3. Talented players will be asked to workout on their own without instruction. This is because the coaches will be using all their instructional time with the athletes who aren't interested in football, have limited athletic ability or whose parents don't like football.

4. Games will be played year round, but statistics will only be kept in the 4th, 8th and 11th games.

5. This will create a New Age of sports where every school is expectedto have the same level of talent and all teams will reach the same minimal goals. If no child gets ahead, then no child will be left behind.............

What's new in da hood?

Last week some of my 5th grade students got creative with their writing on St. Patrick's Day. Instead of writing about "what would you do if you found a pot of gold" or "the day a leprechaun came to school", this group of student's decided to write about "Leprechauns in da Hood". I haven't read the stories but I am sure they will be entertaining.

Clear the air, not the room.

I can't believe this is real:

"You no longer have to be embarrassed by the untimely passing of intestinal gas among your friends or family. GasBGon has been designed and tested to absorb the odor and sound of flatulence. Malodorous gas is a naturally occurring event, obviously affecting some people more than others. Yet, clinical studies show that the average person produces one to three pints of gas and passes gas 14 times a day."

Just Random Stuff

  1. I hosted Bunco at my house on Thursday night. I did not win anything.
  2. I went to Patty Fest in the Park at the Park Tavern on Saturday. I went with some friends from work. I was the DD and got to drive my friend's new Honda CRV. I really liked it! When I got home Saturday night there was a CRV in the garage. My mom had traded in her Civic and purchased a CRV while I was at the park. Weird. Anyways, back to the park...there were lots of crazy drunk people there which was not a huge surprise. My friends and I witnessed a girly fight, a guy bust his ass when he fell out of his chair, and middle-aged men (who thought they looked good) trying to hit on young blondes. Gross. We also overheard a group of guys talking about how they shaved their balls. Really Gross.
  3. I am not ready for work tomorrow. I have a ton of papers to grade. YUCK.

LMU

I got accepted into the Ed.S. program at LMU in Tennessee. The program starts in August 2006 and finishes the following August. Nikki and two other girls will be doing the same program with me. We all must be NUTS!

Psycho Girl

I met Psycho Girl at the gym yesterday. She came up to me at the end of my training session with Nadine (Nadine a.k.a. "Let Me Kick Your Ass Into Shape"). Psycho Girl introduces herself by saying, "I don't want you to think I am some kind of psycho girl but I have been watching you since you started working out with her (pointing to my Let Me Kick Your Ass trainer). I can tell you are making a lot of progress." She left by saying something to the effect of "Keep up the good work." Now I did not think she was psycho but when I told friends and family the story they said things like: "Yep, she is psycho." or "Was she looking for a new girlfriend?"

Now I did not think this was weird at all. I have seen this chick at the gym before. She appears to be a "non-psycho" type person. Before I chose a trainer I watched different trainers working with clients for about a month. Maybe Psycho girl was "watching me" because she wanted to see what kind of trainer Nadine is. Regardless of Psycho Girl's motive for giving me a compliment, I was happy to hear someone say they could see a "noticeable" difference.

After Psycho Girl left Nadine was back to business. We were ending our session with deadlifts (which I happen to like). As I was finishing the last exercise Nadine was telling me how my strength was increasing. She mentioned that I was able to lift heavier weights. Then she says (with a smile), "Yeah, you will probably be a little sore tomorrow." I said, "You mean, you KNOW I am going to be REALLY sore tomorrow, right?" She laughed and said, "Yeah, pretty much. See you on Thursday!"

What is my problem?

I just don't feel like writing anything for my blog. It's not that I don't have anything to write about. Maybe it's just that I am too tired at night to even think about turning on my computer except to check email. I am hoping that spring weather will bring me to write more.

Miscellaneous

I spend 1.5-2.0 hours a day commuting to and from work.

I would not transfer to another school because I work with such an awesome group of people.

We (the special education department at my school) like to refer to ourselves as the "mixed nuts".

Today a 1st grader told me about all of the jerseys he has. "I have a basketball one, a football one, a golfball one, a baseball one..."

The gym is kicking my ass.

I am addicted to scrapbook supply swaps.

If you eat to much sugar-free candy you will get diarrhea.
