Writing Test

Today my 5th graders were practicing for the BIG writing test. I was reviewing some of the main things that they would be graded on:

1. Make sure your paper has a beginning, middle and end.

2. Don't start your paper with, "My name is Tom and I am going to tell you about the best vacation I ever had."

3. Don't end your paper with "to be continued", "the end", "P.S.", "see you next time", etc...

4. Indent, Indent, Indent!

5. Do not write about guns, gangs, boobs, hooker boots, etc...

6. Do not copy the story line from a book, movie or song.

7. Remember to include a title for your story.
